Conference season is upon us! The first stop for BuyerQuest is sunny, warm Miami, Florida, where a few of my colleagues are attending Procurement Leader’s Americas Congress.

It’s going to a busy two days. You’ll be in the company of experts from various industries, including Brian Bancroft, VP of Indirect Procurement at The Coca-Cola Company, Michael Byron, Senior Director of Supplier Diversity at Walmart,  Robert M. Monczka, Ph. D. Professor Emeritus at Michigan State University, among others.

Can we expect to see you there? Read on to for details on what to expect from the conference, where you can find BuyerQuest, and how to maximize your time.

What will BuyerQuest be up to at the conference?

You don’t have the opportunity to meet one of the visionaries behind BuyerQuest at every conference. But, if you’re attending Procurement Leader’s Americas Congress 2016, you’ll have that chance to meet our CEO Jack Mulloy. He will be joining our Director of Sales, Brian Shuey and Sr. Director of Global Channels, Eric Lynch, in Miami. Jack loves to network, discuss challenges facing the procurement industry, and tell you why he believes BuyerQuest is procurement’s Field of Dreams.

You can find Jack, Brian and Eric at Booth #7. If you stop by, we can promise good conversation, insight into what’s happening at BuyerQuest, and the opportunity to see our team in action.

We know there’s a lot going on at conferences, so when you’re planning your personal agenda and making your way from one presentation to another, pencil in BuyerQuest. If you don’t have the time to spare, engage with us on social! We love to tweet.  (@BuyerQuest).

3 simple tips to make the most of your conference experience.

1. Network, network, network

Hundreds of procurement professionals are attending Procurement Leader’s Americas Congress. That’s a lot of networking opportunities! Research who’s going to be there and know who you want to connect with prior to attending the event.

Make an effort to start conversations and get to know other professionals in attendance. Schedule a coffee talk and come prepared with icebreaker questions. Talk with fellow procurement professionals. Old, young, inexperienced, and industry leaders all have something to offer. You never know where a connection may lead.

2. Be in the moment (not on your phone)

You won’t want to miss a thing, so be sure you’re both physically and mentally present during presentations and conversations. Your phone can wait, knowledge cannot.

Remember, you’re there to make valuable connections and grow both professionally and personally.

3. Over pack and plan for anything

It’s easy to think you know exactly what you’ll be doing during the two days spent at Procurement Leader’s Americas Congress. But your plans (and the weather) can change quickly.

Pack two extra professional outfits in case of coffee spill or food stains, and one casual outfit for exploring the area surrounding the conference (or should a fun happy hour opportunity arise).

It’s always better to be prepared, have options, and expect the unexpected … even at a procurement conference.

Procurement Leader’s Americas Congress will be a jam packed 48 hours, but there’s always time to expand your network and learn about new players in the procurement game.

Our team would love to meet with you, learn about your upcoming procurement plans and challenges, and tell you how we’re changing the procurement industry.
